Exhibits of my work, both solo and with groups, have been in New England, California and France. My art works (including photographs, ink drawings and approximately 400 pastel pet portraits) are in private collections across the United States. I still do commissioned pet portraits if time permits. My work is usually a reflection of the world around me in either photography, the Plein Air genre or abstract paintings. I was chosen as one of 10 Plein Air painters invited to paint in Giverny, France in Monet's Garden and surrounding areas. We were given private access to Monet's garden daily - an exhilarating and special experience. My paintings reflect the nuance of color and light, in both the Plein Air genre and abstract compositions.

I was a high school art educator, arts administrator and university art professor. During one 4-year period I was also a consultant for the J. Paul Getty Center for Education in the Arts in California. At that time I co-authored a book on art education with other art consultants chosen from across the United States for exemplary work in the arts. The book was used as an art education text at the university level.

I retired from the West Hartford School System in Connecticut after several years, where I was the Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts K-12; supervising 64 educators of music, art, and drama in 15 schools.

I live in Connecticut and California with my husband, Dick, and our Ragdoll cat, Cezanne.

As An Artist

I often paint in the Plein Air genre which dictates painting on the site, either outdoors or indoors, spontaneously capturing the fleeting power of the moment. Acute observation with the expressive passion for the subtleties of light and shape affects the outcome in both my abstract or impressionist paintings and photos. If I am not painting outdoors, I use my own sensory experiences and photographs for reference. I try to encompass the transitory nature of the essential moments I deem important to my art. Photographs may reflect evocative and visceral memories while connecting to my feelings, the time and place. Sometimes I feel a design or photo isolation stands on it's own merits - and becomes my art.
